Access to Employment Ayr exists
to provide training, employment, childcare and
improved access to opportunities.

Our Organisation

Access to Employment Ayr (A2E) was formed in 1998 under the name of ‘Access North Ayr’ with the amalgamation of two Urban Programme projects; ‘NAILED TO’, an employment and training initiative and ‘Childwatch’, which provided after-school care. The merger of the projects resulted in the formation of a local economic development company which aimed to improve access to training and employment for the local out-of-work residents. A2E’s main target area is the Community Regeneration Partnership Datazone areas which fall into the 15% most deprived in Scotland.

A2E provides an extensive menu of interventions to upskill and support local residents to overcome the wide range of barriers to inclusion in the labour market. Funding is provided from various sources including Community Planning Partnership, South Ayrshire Council, Scottish Enterprise Ayrshire, Job Centreplus and the Big Lottery. In common with similar organisations, A2E is working towards sustainability by generating income through social enterprise activity.
